Got some Questions!
Ok, since I am unaware of where the iRacing thread is. I'll ask it here. I'm looking into signing up for iRacing. I wanna know what is it like for anyone who has raced it? What's the best affordable steering wheel. And which subscription should i get? I need someone to give me a really, really detailed overall view of iRacing itself, and the steering wheel of their choice which they think is the best value. Thanks----

Re: Got some Questions!
It's really Realistic. If your just going to sign up with out a code they had you have to buy the Sprint Cup COT Car. I signed up when they had a code for it. If you buy the car right off the bat you cant use it in competition. You start out with a lower license and have to work your way up. Cars cost 11.95 and tracks are between 9.95 and 11.95 (i think). Over all I like it. A wheel is a better choice than a controller trust me. I have the Logitech Driving Force GT wheel and it works great. If you have any questions I will try to answer them.

So you have to buy every car you want to drive when you have the license? And you have to buy every track?

Re: Got some Questions!
Yes you do. I was lucky and signed up when the had a promotion going on i got the Impala COT and Indy for free. But the stuff you get right off the bat is enough to keep you busy as you learn and because sometimes there's some idiots that don't know how to drive and ruin your ranking. Over all I think for what its worth the prices arn't that bad. If you were to buy Daytona you would get the NASCAR track, the 24 hour race track, the road course, and the bike track. I think that's what you'd get i'm not sure because the member site is being updated now. Nut for most every track there are varations and you can race any car on every track. I could take the COT and race it on South Boston if I wanted to.

I would need to know more about the computer than just looking it up. Sorry. Do you have the factory video card? and how much Ram do you have?

It should work I'm just not sure how well. If that is your video card it is just above the minimum requirements. YOu will probually have to turn down the graphics to low. The ram is good and it should be fine to play.

Re: Got some Questions!
Well it depends if your computer has a PCI slot in it. You have to take the cover off to find out. If it does most video cards fit in one of those. They sell video cars about everywhere except WalMart. Staples, Best Buy, ext. Then its a matter of just getting the drivers and disabling the old card which you cant take out of your computer because its an ingrated one. Ill look later if your computer has a PCI kinda busy now. And one more thing about iRacing it can become addicting, I havent touched any other game for more than a few minutes since it.

EDIT:: Your computer does have PCI slots.

I have more questions (I'm sorry!!). When your racing say South Boston does the wheel jerk alot with the feedback? Does it jerk alot at Talledega and Tona? If i'm only fourteen and I use my father's credit card will it put my name as my dad's as he is the card holder? And can you guestimate how long it takes to get from the Rookie to the A license? What do you perfer to put your wheel on as im going to hook my TV up to my computer so i want a fairly sturdy slighty large table, but not to big what do you suggest? And lastly is it true that you get the Monte Carlo SS and the SK Modified as well as all the rookie items for free when you start? Or is it just the rookie items that you get and you have to buy the Monte Carlo Modifed etc etc... Again sorry for all the questions.

The wheel does jerk around a lot when you go over bumps, but it doesn't try to go back to the center like in other games. I haven't tried Daytona or Talledega so I don't know. But i would think it would bounce around more at Daytona than at Tally.
BackInBlackInc.24 wrote:If I'm only fourteen and I use my father's credit card will it put my name as my dad's as he is the card holder?
Sadly yes it will put your dad's name. I had the same problem but after a while you get used to it. I don't know of a way to change it. (But I think some people put some thing different (One guys name was "Gift Card" and another was "Ben Adams2".)
BackInBlackInc.24 wrote:And can you guestimate how long it takes to get from the Rookie to the A license?
I have no clue really. I have had it for 2 weeks now and Im going to be promoted to D later on tonight. It depends who you end up with. During the rookie license all that matters is that you drive clean and safe. If you get in a room of idiots that's hard to do. And I THINK they only promote every 13 weeks (an iRacing Season). But you start out at a 2.5 SR(Safety Rating) and D is at 3.0SR. (I'm not sure where C B A and Pro are because I haven't gotten that far yet.) When you get to D it starts to measure where you finish and I'm not sure how that effects when you level up. And if you get to a B class license you cant get demoted back down to C. Your SR can drop though I had as low as a 1.79SR before I got it going straight. So its a matter of trial and error.

I have my wheel on my desk with a 32inch VIZIO. I don't think it matters what size just make sure its sturdy. The tracks in iRacing arn't all smooth like in other racing (NASCAR) games.

There was a promo that allowed me to get the COT Impala SS and Indy for free. And sadly I cant remember what it was Sorry. When you start out with no Promos you get the Legends Ford 34' Coupe, Pontiac Solstice, and the SCCA Spec Racer Ford.
There is one promo that I know of that will get you a free car to start of with.
Use PR-INDY and you will get the Dallara Indy Car free and a 3 month subscription for $25. The car is the one the Formula 1 drivers use.
Other Promos that worked as of this post are.....
PR-SCHOOL will get you 1 Month for $5.
PR12MSR will get you a 12 Month subscription for $75.
PR-2FREE will get you 3 months for the price of one. $14
I hope that answers your questions.

actually you can get demoted if your sr falls below 2.0 you can level up as fast as you can drive make sure to do 4 offical races or 4 offical time trials and have your sr above a 4.0 and it will promote you instantly
